Le rap kreyol de Mr. OK débarque avec un son frais, moderne et dansant, parfaite trame sonore d'un été rempli de vagues de chaleur!

Venu d'Haïti et installé à Montréal depuis 2009, Mr. OK propose un son unique en son genre à la limite du rap, de l'électro et de la musique traditionnelle de l'île (Kompa). Les titres du EP Men Mwen (« Me voici ») ont été conçus entre Port-au-Prince et Montréal avec l'aide des producteurs Benkele et Freeworm (The National Parcs). Résolument international, le EP comprend aussi un remix du Californien Chief Boima (Dutty Artz) qui apporte une touche zouk-caribéenne sexy.

Alors que sa carrière de chanteur est déjà bien engagée sur l'île, Mr. OK choisit de quitter Port-au-Prince pour Montréal. Lors d'une levée de fonds pour Haïti, après le tremblement de terre, il fait la rencontre déterminante de Freeworm et des DJ de Masala. Quelques mois plus tard sort Men Mwen, la première parution du nouveau label Masalacism Records.

Masala est un blog et une émission de radio animée par trois passionnés de musique urbaine et électronique internationale. Depuis 5 ans, ils partagent leurs découvertes multilingues sur les ondes de CISM à Montréal, Canada, et voient leur lectorat augmenter à l'international. L'équipe de Masala organise régulièrement des soirées à Montréal et souhaite grâce au label donner encore plus de visibilité à des artistes qui expérimentent avec les musiques de partout dans le monde de façon accessible. Kreole rap artist Mr. OK arrives with a cutting-edge, danceable sound drawing influences from the traditional music of Haiti (Kompa), rap and electronica. The new EP Men Mwen ("Here I Am") drops just in time for the heat waves of summer.

After relocating from Port-au-Prince to Montréal in 2009, a chance encounter at a fundraiser for Haiti following the devastating earthquake early 2010 placed Mr.OK in line with producer Freeworm and the DJs of the popular radio show Masala. The new EP includes the tracks Men Mwen and Poto Mitan, produced by Haitian producer Benkele, and pairs them with Yaya and Bese Ba, crafted by Freeworm (The National Parcs) in Montreal. The EP also includes a remix from California's Chief Boima (Dutty Artz), who adds a sexy touch of Caribbean zouk to the blend.

Men Mwen is the first release of the new Masalacism Records label. Masala is a blog and radio show hosted by three fans of the international electronic and urban music scenes. For over 5 years the trio have shared their multi-linguistic discoveries, both through the airwaves at CISM (Montréal, Canada) and through the show's associated blog. Over the years the website has witnessed a steady increase in international readership and is today a go-to blog for forward-thinking "world music". Masalacism Records aims to provide an additional level of visibility for artists from this broad-ranging scene, and it prepares to make its mark with future releases coming soon.
